2021 was not the year of reading that I expected it to be for me. But it also wasn’t the year that I expected at all. While we are all still trying to recover from the pandemic, I thought it would be a good idea to dive into my reading per normal. And for the most part it worked.
Aside from my reading goal, which I actually increased in November, I did make some headway. I started this blog and started posting much more frequently. I dove head first into the Bookstagram community, and that has been lovely. I have joined reading challenges and book clubs. Al in all, I would say that 2021 was a good year for reading and my #booklife.
Also I got into reviewing ARCs. Not sure I needed to add this to my list of reading goals, but I love it. And it forces me to read within a timeline so have my reviews published. The fast pace is also great and I love getting to explore new authors.
If I had to say what my favorite read of the year was, by far it was The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. #stemlove My most surprising read of the year, due to how much I actually enjoyed it was, The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix. Not usually a fan of horror, but while there were some cringe worthy moments, the plot made it better.
As we head into 2022 I’m excited for my reading goals. I’m going to do the PopSugar 2022 Reading Challenge, 3 official book clubs (and some more that I watch from the sidelines and will read the books I’m interested in), and continue to review ARCs. Will also be here blogging about what I’m reading, but I also think I’m going to try to include more recaps about my life and reading on a monthly basis.
My reading goal for 2022 is going to be 70 books. I think that is doable for me, with all of the ones that I started this year and all of my challenges. Comment below with your reading goals for 2022. I’m also going to try to branch out in my genre reads for ARCs. I love a good romance, but new year, new genre.
