2023 Reading Challenges – Let’s Go!

So every year I always say that I’m going to do reading challenges. I start with about 3-5 and I usually finish none. So this year I’m going to try something new, I’m going to hold myself accountable, but putting my challenges out there for the world and doing updates. I will also note, this will help since I will be starting grad school in a few short weeks and I don’t want to give up my love of reading for school.

Challenge #1: Book Riot’s Read Harder 2023

This challenge is to read 24 books based on prompts put together by Book Riot. Right now I have 14 of the 24 prompts planned out. One of the prompts that I’m struggling with is the cookbook one. Please let me know if you have any recommendations for cookbooks to read from cover to cover.

Challenge #2: PopSUGAR Reading Challenge 2023

The PopSugar Challenge is one that I have attempted in the past and I typically do pretty well at it, but I still have never completed it. The overachiever in me always does the full challenge with the bonus prompts, which is a total of 50 books. Last year I actually finished most of the bonus challenges. I have 30 of the 50 books planned out here. A prompt that I would love help with is a book that a friend recommends.

Challenge #3: The Book Girls’ Guide Read the USA

So this a new challenge for me this year, but the one I think I am most excited about. My excitement comes from the fact that a list is pre-curated for each of the different regions and you get to select the one you want to read. If enough people pick the same book, then a discussion happens via the Facebook group. This is my first Read around the USA challenge and I’m excited for it. First read up for this challenge is Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.

Challenge #4: 2023 Discussion Challenge

This one isn’t a reading challenge, but a blogging challenge. As you know my blog posts are infrequent at best and I typically only blog about the books that really strike a cord with me. This challenge I’m excited for since I’m hoping it will actually lead me to blogging more and having more discussions about books, which I need to do more of. I’m aiming for the Creative Conversationalist level which is 11-20 discussion posts.

All in all I’m looking forward to my challenge goals for the new year. I plan on tracking the Book Riot and PopSugar challenges via The Storygraph using their reading challenge tracker. Makes planning and tracking what you have read so much easier. There maybe one more challenge that I enter but this is the bulk of them, don’t want to over commit when I have so many things planned for 2023.
