My Second Attempt at Colleen Hoover

pile of books

I decided to read another Colleen Hoover book. I wasn’t planning on it, but I thought that it would be a good idea to give her another chance since I plan on reading Verity at some point in my life.

I decided to read Layla. I’m only on chapter seven, but I’m already confused. Why would you start a story with a guy tying up his girlfriend? I’m plan on finishing but I don’t know if it is a good idea. I mean it is probably going to be a great read for spooky season, but I don’t think I knew what to expect, just like I didn’t know what to expect when I read Regretting You.

I think that I was hoping for something more mainstream since the world seems to love her books, but I’m still trying to understand what all of the hype is. Maybe I have to get to the end to understand it all, but it is just weird. If anyone has any recommendations for Colleen Hoover books that are more “normal” I would appreciate the recommendations.

Also if someone could explain why Colleen Hoover is so popular it would also make this whole thing a bit more understandable for me. I like to say that I enjoy all types of books, and I pride myself on the fact that I have branched out my reading in the last few years; but the Colleen Hoover fever is something that I don’t think that I will ever fully understand.
