Welcome to 2024. Staying up to ring in the new year is not my thing. So instead of staying up late, I decided to write my year wrap up post and tell you all what my goals are for 2024.
2023 was a bit of a bear for me: I started grad school, got new clients at work and dealt with a lot of family stuff. I did this all while trying to read 100 books. Well I averaged a 4.0 in my first two semesters of grad school, know that my clients like me, and my family stuff has eased. What I did not accomplish was reading 100 books.
And while I did read 66 books (#66 came at 11:30 pm on 12/30), setting a goal and not meeting hit has taught me a lot. As most of you know I’m an engineer, which means that I am a perfectionist and I always meet goals and deadlines. So only reading 2/3 of the amount of books I wanted to read was a bit of a shock to me. But this year outside of everything else I have mentioned, I have done a lot of self-reflection. And while I still feel a bit like Patrick, I’m also proud of myself for not overdoing it.
That being said I’m setting a much more realistic goal for 2024. My goal is to read 50 books. With everything happening in my life that is much more realistic for me to meet. And to help me with that I am doing a challenge to help me get through my TBR of books that I own (I have so many I can’t keep count). I’m doing the Reader Voracious Project Backlist Reading Challenge! I signed up to do this last year but didn’t follow through. This is the one thing I plan on following through on with my reading this year.
Outside of reading, I want to maintain my 4.0 in grad school as well as gain more clients at work. I also plan on working on my health in 2024. I signed for a personal trainer and want to eat healthier. That last one is a goal I have every year, but really plan to stick to this year.
So what are all of your reading goals and life goals for 2024, I would love to hear them.
